Team Rider, and overall rad dude, Jorden "Dig Deep" Wells, has been busy giving back to his local skate scene. He has been doing so, through a not for profit he runs under the Ottawa Skateboard Association, called For Pivot Sakes (FPS).
FPS is a mandate to create recreation opportunities for those in need. It does so by providing a skateboard, helmet, and continued mentorship for individuals to have the chance to try skateboarding. If the participant wishes to continue with skating, they can then keep the helmet and skateboard they used during the program.
FPS has completed successful donations and instruction with organizations such as, Ottawa Community Housing, Interval House Women's Shelter, Matthew House Refugee Services, The Robert Smart Children Mental Health Center, Vanier Community Support Services, and most recently Ausome Ottawa.
FPS receives a bulk of its donations from the Ottawa Community, and have accumulated a healthy stock of lightly used skateboards. Kebbek, has also contributed by providing FPS with trucks and wheels to help make the boards a ripping first setup for the participants of the program.
Jorden has more programs coming up as well. He reports that, "What we have coming up next for the second winter in a row is our program with Vanier Community Support Services which is a 9 week program in three separate schools, 3 weeks per school, a learn to skate program where participant earns their board and helmet through their participation, with the end of program field trip being at The Yard Indoor park where I manage the programming and facility. To accompany that we have 6 weeks of inclusive programming starting up at The Yard with Ausome Ottawa this winter."
Thank you Jorden for being an invaluable part of your local community. You serve as an inspiration for us all, on how to spread positive vibes and keep the stoke alive.
